Moeilijk jaar voor Italiaanse textielindustrie

Voor de Italiaanse textiel- en mode-industrie zal 2009 de boeken in gaan als het slechtste jaar in de afgelopen 20 jaar.

Een onderzoek onder 150 modefirma's, uitgevoerd in opdracht van Italiaanse beursorganisatie Pitti Immagine, laat zien dat de sector een zeer slecht derde kwartaal achter de rug heeft. De omzetdaling wordt geschat op 12,6%.

De meerderheid van de ondervraagden (56%) gaat ervan uit dat de omzetten zich nu zullen stabiliseren. Meer dan een kwart verwacht een verdere achteruitgang en 17% van de modebedrijven rekent op een verbetering.

De Italiaanse modebranche heeft voornamelijk last van de wereldwijde economische en financiële crisis. In de eerste negen maanden liep de export met 20% terug. Na Frankrijk is Duitsland het belangrijkste exportland voor Italië. Opvallend is de terugval in de uitvoer naar Amerika (-30,7%), Rusland (-27,9%), Honk Kong (-26,1%) en Spanje (-24%).
